Into the Weekend

At this point  it seems as though Thursday and Friday were a blur as it was busy with work.

Me walking on Thursday with 12,246 steps

Also on Thursday I realized my nail salon was open so I was able to get a pedicure for the first time since February.  #firstworldproblems  They we’re doing all services outside so I felt much more comfortable going

Me walking on Friday with 12,029 steps.

Also my salon was open again so I was able to get in an appointment.

The heat wave started in the Bay Area today.  I didn’t head out for my walk until after 12 so it was already 90 degrees.  Needless to say it was a sloooowww walk.  But at least I have almost 14k steps today.

My love and I went to see Gary Owen(s) in comedy concert today.  (The s is silent lol) The comedy club converted the parking lot into a comedy club with socially distanced seats, masks and sanitized headphones.   We did a double date with some friends.  Gary was funny (as always) and we had a great time.   This was my first public event since March and it felt good to be out safely.

I’m so tired but it’s been a good day.

A Struggle Day

So yesterday I must have hit it too hard because today was a struggle.  I was so tired I slept in (until 6:30) and didn’t make it out for my morning walk.  I did get finally get out later and hit over 10k steps for the day.

As for work, it was also a struggle because I was tired.  I get like I had a good burst of productivity in the afternoon then it evaporated like steam.  The good thing is I did get a few critical items taken care of and my presentation (which I almost forgot about) went well.

On a lighter note, for today’s daily inspirational quote, I shared one of my favorites with the team:

Tonight’s dinner was seared salmon, green beans and potatoes.  Delish!

Also the website for the 30 Day transformation program was back up so I could start my onboarding.  But it wouldn’t record my onboarding video so I’ll do it in the morning. Since I look sooo tired at the end of this day anyways. (See below :) )

Right now it’s shower, pjs and bedtime for me.

Level Up

Hey hey hey it’s that time of year again.

Yep

I have been killing the steps this summer.  When my eyes are higher is usually when I take several walks a day.  I first went out before 6am and got a quick mile.  I went out again after 6:30 and got another mile.

Sidebar...  In that first mile, I decided to practice running for 1 minute at a time.   I know I have to do it for at least 30 seconds for the 30 day transformation program I’m starting soon so I wanted to see if I’d struggle through.   It’s not my favorite but I can do it if it’s not overkill.

After I finished my 7am meeting I went back out to do another 2 miles.

My replacement Fitbit should arrive by Friday  in the meantime I’m using the Fitbit app on my phone to track my walks   What I’m missing is all the other steps throughout the day.

My August step goal was 100 miles.  My stretch goal was 150 miles and my super stretch goal was 200 miles   I finished the month with 170   So for September goal is 175 and my stretch goal is 200 miles.  But since I won’t have my Fitbit till Friday should I tamper it back? Hmmm...

Let’s get it!

Photos from my bday month kickoff photo shoot :)

My theme for this September is Level Up with Ciara’s song as soundtrack.  It is what I’m moving towards both physically and emotionally

The Word for the month is Restoration Joel 2:23-27.  For those years that seem wasted because of (perceived) lack of progress and reduction of resources, God will restore.

What I Love About Me

Now at the end of November, I am on a 7 day detox post-Thanksgiving.  I'm taking The Cleaner and boy is it uncomfortable.  Pretty difficult to do it during the week since you have to go so much throughout the day....especially after eating.

From time to time I do a "what I love about me" challenge where I acknowledge what I love about me.  It'a a self care exercise that is proven to be effective in staying grateful and grounded.  Well one of the things I love about me is MY RESILIENCE. After setbacks and disappointments, I always find the courage to start again.

Back in August I renewed and stepped up my health efforts as I resumed my morning walks.  In September, I started including weights in my workouts.  In October, I hired a personal trainer.  I've had trainers before but this time I hired a trainer that comes to me which makes it much easier to not miss my training sessions.  We train twice a week and she kicks my butt. Additionally, I try to do 2-3 extra workouts on my own each week.

This week I also hired another trainer.  He trains my BFF back east and will train me online twice a week.  Starting next week, I will train with my local trainer twice a week and with my new online trainer twice a week.  The training package with my new trainer includes 12 workouts, 4 web conferences and a meal plan.  Oooh wait...now that I think of it, I need to tell him what I absolutely do not eat, cabbage, spinach and quinoa. Yuck.

Soooo now, I have to focus on progress.  My motto during this is progress, not perfection.  This helps keeps me focused when I'm frustrated that I'm not seeing results as quick as I want to.  Nothing is more irritating when someone says, "oh you have a trainer.  Are you seeing any progress?"   It's like people do not realize how much of an insult that is.  Because what the person you ask that questions hears is, "Really? You work out? I can't tell" 😐😑😔😞.

PROGRESS!!! I'm getting stronger.  I can hold my planks for longer than 10 seconds.  I'm at 20-30 seconds now. When I use the machines in the gym, I can go higher than the 70 I started at back in September.  I do far fewer happy hours which means less calories from bad bar foods.  And most importantly, my pants are looser.  Yay! Progress!

I love him

So I went to a charity event tonight and now I'm in love.  One of the football players in particular is so fine and I told him.  Yes Davis!

Got home late.  Day 4,5 and 6 of my reset will have to be completed tomorrow.

Best part of my day

After everything the best part of my day was getting my car detailed. There is nothing like a freshly cleaned car.  Thank a god they come to our campus to wash cars.  It's super convenient.

I am pooped from this week's workouts and only did a walk away the pounds workout this evening.  I will do the day 4 of my 31 day reset tomorrow.

Looking tired crazy and beautiful after a long day today.

I love you

What a day, traffic court, then work then 4-5 miles around the lake (total miles are debatable since my gps and my sole sistah's gps were not aligned).  So at least 4.25 miles around the lake was my total mileage. Then home for dinner which was baked flounder, green beans and potatoes.  Followed with a too big bowl of popcorn.
Then chatted with a friend.

Then completed today's 31 day reset assignment.

So today, day 3's assignment was to write a love letter to yourself and have it delivered to you in the future.  The assignment had a template you could use listing all the things you listed in yesterday's assignment that you loved about various areas of your life.

I scheduled my letter to be delivered to me grid year on my 40th birthday. My letter, beginning and end with the middle omitted...

Dear future Christina,

You are amazing.  God made no mistakes when he created you.  You are intelligent and beautiful and, oh, did I mention AMAZING!

Love forever, love always
Christina
