I made SAP!
So my paper is done. Classes passed and I made SAP (satisfactory academic progress) for my academic year! Thank you Jesus!
Now I'm taking a short break before the next semester begins in 2 weeks. :)

Traveling Mercies
Extremely busy day today...
Started out with morning workout on the east coast...a bunch of stuff in the middle..now ending now with me sitting here writing a quick blog post wondering why my legs are sore...oh yeah, squat jumps! :)
On our descent into Cali, there was quite a bit of turbulence...I turned off my audiobook and turned on "A Little More Jesus" by MaryMary on my praise playlist. When I looked out the window, I saw lightning, I just closed my eyes and stopped looking out the window. Can we say Thank You JESUS for traveling mercies?! Thank ya!

Two Weeks...
2 weeks till my birthday month and 3 weeks until my 10K and I have to be ON IT!

20 Years...Where did the time go???
I went to my high school reunion today and had a blast. Everyone looked well and that is such a blessing. I remembered once again what made Carver High such a special place for me. Thank God for that experience and tonight. Oh and I was so psyched to see one of my best friends from high school. We won't lose touch again!
But seriously 20 years? It's a blessing.

No Words...
My friend's son just passed away at the tender age of 21...I remember when he was just a arm baby...and now he's gone...I'm just numb. Really praying for my friend who just lost her baby. I'm just numb and I really have no words tonight.

Two and a Half Minute Morning Strength Workout...Done!
It was my intention to get up and do a mile this morning and then some strength...since I was running short on time...I had to focus on nutrition and a small strength workout.
Real (not instant) oatmeal with raisins, homemade pomegranate smoothie (blueberries, rasberries, blackberries, pomegranate juice and berry sherbert). I'll eat some almonds for my protein later. Already cooked my lunch this morning.
Yeah so health, fitness and weight loss all start with nutrition. So with that said, I did my new 2.5 min of strength this morning. 30-second plank, 30 seconds of pushups, 30 seconds of squats, 30 second squat hold (ow), and then 40-second plank. No burpees this morning, but I broke a sweat and FELT it just the same. Tonight I have my strength training session with my trainer.
I wish I could commit to a walk this evening, but I know I need to get some more schoolwork done.
Today will be a GREAT day!

Where did the weekend go?????
So Friday night I went to the San Jose Jazz Festival and had a great time. One problem...cute shoes = sore feet the next day. I couldn't even do my planks yesterday.
Tonight however I did get planks and push ups done.
Other than that, I've been cranking out schoolwork this weekend. Is my paper finished? No not yet. I gotta pull it out.
Anyhoo, I'm further than I was last week. Progress, right? But not enough and it is already Sunday night.
I'm gonna listen to my song of the summer now....Get Lucky....great beat and just makes you want to dance.

Two minute workout....Burpees, Planks and Squat Jumps
Since my trainer told me last week that I should be doing planks every day...I have. 30-40 second planks that is. Eventually, I'll start doing leg lifts and side planks but for now, I'm good.
This morning, I did push ups, and a 30-second plank. Then I studied for a bit and went back to do burpees with a 2 3 pound weights when I jumped up...ummm, me no like burpees...and that's the truth!
So I took another break...then I did another two minute workout. Yes, two minutes sound like nothing, but when you do it hard core, it is no joke.
I did 30 seconds of burpees with weights, 35 second planks and 1 minute of squat jumps with weights. Yeah, I broke a sweat.
Now I just have to cook breakfast, get dressed and make it out the door by 9...1 hour to go.

Running Mojo Back?
Yeah so I went salsa dancing last night and woke up this morning for a 10k race. Well when I went to look up my registration (because I didn't do it Friday night) I realized I was not registered. So I was like cool, I'll go anyway and just register today and just do the 5k.
Well I got there and met up with all my BGR sisters and I felt a little bad that I was only doing a 5k...that is until I was about a mile in and I felt every bit of my two month running furlough. Geesh I did struggle. But I did absolutely make myself run as much as possible.
Did I get my running mojo back? Well that remains to be seen...we'll see after this next week. :)

Day 2 workout:
AM- walk away the pounds 1 mile
AM - one plank 30 sec
PM - 1-2 hrs of salsa tonight

31 Days...Get It Done!
July was a month of just maintaining.
August is get it done month. I'm doing a 31 day blog challenge with my BFF where I'll blog 31 days on either this one or my other cultural blog. She told me she was doing it for her blog and I decided to join her. I am hoping it will knock me out of my writer's block for school as well.

Last night my trainer told me I should be planking everyday. And I need to get ready for the Black Girls Run! 10K at the Sweat Your Sole conference next month. Soooo, I gotta get my running mojo back. I haven't done a race since the Rave Run in May. This weekend I'm signed up to do a 10K, but I am not ready. I do my strength training sessions twice a week for the last 2 months, but I have not hit the pavement since June. So this month, I'm forcing myself to get back on the pavement starting with Saturday's race. I'm also getting back to doing my daily 1 mile, walk away the pounds workout. It is only 15 minutes and I don't have to leave the house. And I'll plank everyday as well. I started this morning with my walk away the pounds workout and then followed up with two 30-second planks.
As for hitting the pavement, I may just do the 5K this weekend (so I don't overdo it) to start off and then add a mile each week until my race in September.
Speaking of which....it's almost my birthday month! Yay!
