A Small Break

Me at beach 4.13.13
This was such a busy and stressful week. Even this morning, I was so stressed when I met up with my BGR group for our morning run. However, I felt much better after my 3 miles and great chat with my one of my BGR sisters. A couple hours later, I had most productive dialogue with another PhD student at our "get it done" session.

Later after my PhD meetup, even though I had many many items on my "to do" list, I knew I still I needed to get to the ocean. So I took a quick drive down Hwy 1, pulled into one of the beaches and just listened to the ocean. I read. I thought. I journaled. I blogged.

I read Gladwell's "The Tipping Point". In his chapters about context, there are some interesting ideas about Fundamental Attribution Error that I plan to explore in relation to the work that I'm doing for my dissertation in the space of racial identity development...really good stuff.

Also I need to extrapolate the concept behind FAE and how I see that in myself in how i respond differently in various environments at work, in social circles, etc.

The ocean always gives me the space to exhale, clear my mind and reflect. Oh well, now back to town I go.
